Second Stage Round 7: Alba - Szolnok 78-76

Round 7 in A Division means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Szekesfehervar where host Alba (4-2) edged league's leader Szolnok (3-2) 78-76 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the top position in Division. Szolnok was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 9-point lead after three quarters before a 24-13 charge of Alba, which allowed them to win the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Szolnok helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Canadian point guard Kenny Chery (180-92, college: Baylor) fired 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Ryan Pearson (198-90, college: George Mason, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Naturalized American power forward Jarrod Jones (205-90, college: Ball St.) produced 19 points and 7 rebounds and Montenegrin swingman Milos Borisov (201-85) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Alba keeps a position of Division leader. Defending champion Szolnok dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Alba. Szolnok will play next round against Atomeromu trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Alba will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
