Second Stage Round 8: ZTE KK - Kormend 85-100

Very important is a home loss of third ranked ZTE KK (3-4) against fourth ranked Kormend (3-3) on Tuesday night. Host ZTE KK was defeated by Kormend in Zalaegerszeg 100-85. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 100-85. The winners were led by American guard Trey McKinney-Jones (198-90, college: Miami, FL) who scored that evening 25 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import point guard Wesley Channels (190-88, college: Austin Peay St.) supported him with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Kormend players scored in double figures. Even 28 points and 6 assists by American point guard Darrin Govens (185-88, college: St.Joseph's) did not help to save the game for ZTE KK. Serbian forward Stefan Balmazovic (202-89) added 26 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Kormend moved-up to third place in Division. Loser ZTE KK dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Kormend will meet at home league's leader Szolnok in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. ZTE KK will have a break next round.
