Regular Season Round 1: UNI Gyor - MTK 76-50

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of MTK (0-1) on the court of UNI Gyor. Visitors were rolled over by UNI Gyor 76-50. The game was mostly controlled by UNI Gyor. MTK was better in third quarter 17-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to MTK's 30. They outrebounded MTK 41-20 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. UNI Gyor players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Slovakian power forward Zofia Hruscakova (190-95) stepped up and scored 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and American forward Cyesha Goree (190-93, college: Michigan, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 5 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side guard Dora Koch (175-93) responded with 12 points and power forward Zsuzsanna Szekely-Horvath (189-83, college: Georgetown) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. UNI Gyor will play against PINKK-Pecsi (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. MTK's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Budapest Vasas Akademia.
