Regular Season Round 4: Fribourg - Winterthur 79-61

The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Fribourg as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Bellinzona) loss. Fribourg defeated 6th ranked Winterthur at home 79-61. The hosts were ahead by 8 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 27-8 run, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Fribourg especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Alexia Rol (181-89) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 8 rebounds. The former international guard Caroline Turin (172-87, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American guard Sarah Halejian (175-92, college: Yale) replied with 29 points and 4 assists and forward Miriam Baumann (180-93, college: Quest) added 18 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Winterthur. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Helios. Winterthur at the other side keeps the sixth place with two games lost. They share the position with Riva. Winterthur will play next round against strong Aarau trying to get back on the winning streak. Fribourg will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Geneve Basket on the road.
