Regular Season Round 5: UNI Gyor - UNIQA Sopron 88-79

The game between Top Four teams took place in Gyor. Second ranked host UNI Gyor (4-1) defeated 3rd placed MKB Euroleasing (3-2) 88-79. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of MKB Euroleasing. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 28-21. But MKB Euroleasing won second period 25-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when UNI Gyor won last quarter 20-13. They also forced 19 MKB Euroleasing turnovers. American forward Cyesha Goree (190-93, college: Michigan, agency: Interperformances) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side and international guard Zsofia Simon (181-89, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. American guard Yvonne Turner (176-87, college: Nebraska) came up with 16 points and 4 assists and Australia center Cayla George (192-89) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for MKB Euroleasing in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. UNI Gyor maintains second place with 4-1 record behind leader PEAC-Pecs. Defending champion MKB Euroleasing dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Cegledi EKK. UNI Gyor will play against league's leader PEAC-Pecs on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. MKB Euroleasing will play against Vasas Akademia (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
