Regular Season Round 5: UMMC Junior - Neftyanik 74-63

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Neftyanik (3-2) against seventh ranked UMMC Junior (2-3) on Saturday night. Visiting Neftyanik was defeated by UMMC Junior in Ekaterinburg 74-63. UMMC Junior outrebounded Neftyanik 59-33 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Neftyanik was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Elizaveta Komarova (172-95, agency: LBM Management) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Sabina Abaidullina (181-97) contributed with 8 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Four UMMC Junior players scored in double figures. Guard Elena Elgina (170-87) answered with 19 points and power forward Viktoriya Edomakha (187-95) added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Neftyanik. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. UMMC Junior moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Stavropol. Neftyanik at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Rostov. UMMC Junior will again play against higher ranked Neftyanik (#3) in Omsk in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Neftyanik will play at home against Dynamo-2 M. and hopes to get back on the winning track.
