Leader Irkut Irkutsk delivered the seventh win on Sunday night. This time they beat bottom-ranked Urartu Yerevan (0-6) 79-63. Aleksandr Zakharov (203-93) fired 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Konstantin Novikov (202-87) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Irkut Irkutsk players scored in double figures. Irkut Irkutsk's coach Aleksei Lobanov used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Armenia forward Arizona Reid (196-86, college: High Point) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds and American center Todd O'Brien (211-89, college: UAB) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Irkut Irkutsk have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-1 record. Newly promoted Urartu Yerevan still closes the standings with six games lost. Irkut Irkutsk will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Urartu Yerevan will play at home against the league's second-placed Novosybirsk (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
