Regular Season Round 7: Atomeromu - Vasas 98-77
Date: November 13, 2016
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 12th ranked Vasas (1-5) were smashed by thirteenth ranked Atomeromu (2-5) in Paks 98-77. The game was mostly controlled by Atomeromu. Vasas was better in fourth quarter 28-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Atomeromu players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. American players dominated the game. Power forward Matt Tiby (203-92, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) fired 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Point guard P.J. Hill Jr. (182-87, college: Ohio St., agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 10 points and 9 assists. Hill Jr. is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Atomeromu players scored in double figures. Forward Sam Thompson (201-92, college: Ohio St., agency: Pensack Sports) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds and forward A.J. Pacher (208-92, college: Wright St.) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Atomeromu moved-up to eleventh place. Vasas lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the thirteenth position with five games lost. Atomeromu's next round opponent will be higher ranked Szolnok (#3) in Szolnok and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vasas will play on the road against the league's leader Alba (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
