Regular Season Round 9: Atomeromu - PINKK-Pecsi 72-52

Bottom-ranked PINKK-Pecsi (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 72-52 loss to third ranked Atomeromu (6-2) in Szekszard on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Atomeromu. PINKK-Pecsi managed to win third quarter 17-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Atomeromu dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to PINKK-Pecsi's 26. Atomeromu forced 21 PINKK-Pecsi turnovers and outrebounded them 32-15 including a 18-7 advantage in defensive rebounds. Slovenian center Eva Lisec (192-95) stepped up and scored 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and guard Agnes Studer (169-98) chipped in 8 points. The best for the losing side was Serbian power forward Nevena Markovic (193-93, college: IUPUI) with 12 points and 6 rebounds and the former international swingman Nikolett Gemes-Sarok (182-90) scored 9 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Atomeromu maintains third place with 6-2 record behind leader PEAC-Pecs, which they share with UNIQA Eurol. Loser PINKK-Pecsi still closes the standings with eight games lost. They share the position with MTK. Atomeromu will meet MTK (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. PINKK-Pecsi will play against BEAC-Ujbuda and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
