Regular Season Round 8: Massagno - Lausanne 95-90

Date: December 4, 2016
We should mention about the upset which took place in Massagno, where 7th ranked Lausanne (3-5) lost to tenth ranked Massagno (3-4) in a road game 90-95. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lausanne. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Massagno made 23-of-30 charity shots (76.7 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Lausanne helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. The winners were led by guard Quinton Day (185-84, college: UMKC) who scored that evening 27 points and 5 assists and guard Warren Niles (196-89, college: ORU, agency: Two Points) supported him with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds by guard Anton Wilson (196, college: Detroit Mercy) did not help to save the game for Lausanne. Guard Karl Cochran (185-92, college: Wofford) added 23 points and 7 steals for the guests. Four Lausanne players scored in double figures. Massagno moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Neuchatel. Newly promoted Lausanne dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Massagno's next round opponent will be higher ranked Starwings (#4) in Basel and it may be quite challenging game. Lausanne will play at home against Swiss Central (#5) and hope to win that game.
