Regular Season Round 8: Sparta&K MR - Kazanochka 55-77
Date: December 4, 2016
There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Kazanochka (3-5) crushed on the road 7th ranked Spartak Vidnoye (3-6) 77-55 on Sunday. They outrebounded Spartak Vidnoye 42-31 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American guard Shannon McCallum (177-87, college: Charlotte) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and international forward Kristina Alikina (187-86, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) supported her with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Kazanochka players scored in double figures. Even 11 points and 6 rebounds by international Daria Kolosovskaya (182-96, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) did not help to save the game for Spartak Vidnoye. Point guard Evgeniya Finogentova (174-91) added 9 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Kazanochka moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Enisey. Loser Spartak Vidnoye dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Kazanochka will meet league's leader UMMC Ekaterinburg on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Spartak Vidnoye will play against Dynamo Moscow (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
