An interesting game was played in Syktyvkar where host Nika (#7) won against 4th placed Neftyanik 79-75 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Neftyanik. Nika made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Neftyanik turnovers. Forward Kseniya Andreeva (185-92) stepped up and scored 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and forward Marina Sheveleva (184-89) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Nika's coach Olha Doronina allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Power forward Viktoriya Edomakha (187-95) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and guard Elena Elgina (170-87) scored 14 points and 5 assists. Four Neftyanik players scored in double figures. Nika (6-9) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Stavropol. Loser Neftyanik keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Nika will again meet at home higher ranked Neftyanik (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Neftyanik will have a break next round.
