Regular Season Round 19: Nika - UMMC Junior 81-79

A very close game took place in Syktyvkar between Nika and UMMC Junior. Sixth ranked Nika (8-9) got a very close home victory over 9th ranked UMMC Junior (5-12). Nika managed to escape with a 2-point win 81-79 on Saturday evening. Nika made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 27 UMMC Junior turnovers. Forward Marina Sheveleva (184-89) fired 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Center Ekaterina Terekhova (188-90) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Swingman Sabina Abaidullina (181-97) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds and Ekaterina Ilinova (178-95) added 13 points and 5 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) respectively for lost side. Four UMMC Junior players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Nika have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Stavropol. UMMC Junior at the other side keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. Nika will again meet at home UMMC Junior (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. UMMC Junior will have a break next round.
