Regular Season Round 12: Massagno - Boncourt 81-89

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 10th ranked Massagno's (3-8) home loss to ninth ranked Boncourt (5-6) 81-89 on Friday. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 8 points. Boncourt dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Massagno's 38 and made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Massagno 46-24 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American forward Jarvis Williams (198-89, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points and 15 rebounds and Serbian-Montenegrin center Nemanja Calasan (204-85, college: Purdue, agency: HMS) supported him with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Even 36 points (!!!) and 4 steals by American guard Quinton Day (185-84, college: UMKC) did not help to save the game for Massagno. Naturalized Italian point guard Marco Magnani (181-85) added 11 points and 11 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Boncourt moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Swiss Central. Massagno lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with eight games lost. Boncourt will meet at home league's second-placed Fribourg in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Massagno will have a break next round.
