Very important is a road loss of second ranked Irkut Irkutsk (9-4) against ninth ranked MBA Moscow (5-7) on Friday night. Visiting Irkut Irkutsk was defeated by MBA Moscow in Moscow 69-56. MBA Moscow had a 31-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Andrey Sopin (180-97) who led the winners and scored 12 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Stanislav Kraynov accounted for 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Point guard Alexandr Varnakov (185-92) came up with 17 points and 4 steals and Aleksandr Zakharov (203-93) added 14 points respectively for Irkut Irkutsk in the defeat. Irkut Irkutsk's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for MBA Moscow. They maintain ninth place with 5-7 record. Irkut Irkutsk at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. MBA Moscow will play against league's leader Novosybirsk at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Irkut Irkutsk will play against the league's second-placed Universitet-Yugra where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
