Regular Season Round 12: Kormend - Vasas 112-64

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Vasas (2-10) were crushed on the road by second ranked Kormend (9-3) 112-64 on Sunday. The game without a history. Kormend led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Vasas' 36. They outrebounded Vasas 41-24 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Kormend looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Vasas' players. The best player for the winners was American-Guinea-Bissau point guard Perry Petty (185-88, college: UTRGV) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists. American guard Sterling Gibbs (188-92, college: Connecticut, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. Petty is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Kormend players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward A.J. Pacher (208-92, college: Wright St.) who recorded 17 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Ronnie Taylor (187-81, college: NC-Greensboro, agency: Octagon Europe) added 19 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kormend have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-3 record behind leader Alba. Newly promoted Vasas dropped to the bottom place with ten games lost. Kormend will face Szolnok (#9) in Szolnok in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vasas will play at home against PVSK Pannon (#4) and hope to win that game.
