Regular Season Round 12: UMMC - Spartak N. 89-41

PBL top team - UMMC Ekaterinburg (12-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Spartak Noginsk (0-12) 89-41. UMMC Ekaterinburg dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak Noginsk's 18. UMMC Ekaterinburg forced 24 Spartak Noginsk turnovers and outrebounded them 40-26 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. UMMC Ekaterinburg looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of Slovenian point guard Nika Baric (169-92) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 4 assists and Spanish forward Alba Torrens (188-89) who added 18 points and 4 steals (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) during the contest. Four UMMC Ekaterinburg players scored in double figures. UMMC Ekaterinburg's coach Sandy Brondello felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was swingman Anastasia Pimenova (180-81, agency: LBM Management) with 19 points and center Yuliya Garkavskaya (203-91) scored 6 points and 9 rebounds. UMMC Ekaterinburg have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 12-0 record. Spartak Noginsk at the other side still closes the standings with 12 games lost. UMMC Ekaterinburg will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Spartak Noginsk will play on the road against Vologda-Chevakata (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
