Bottom-ranked Spartak Noginsk (0-13) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 79-59 loss to fourth ranked Vologda-Chevakata (7-5) in Vologda on Wednesday evening. They made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Vologda-Chevakata forced 22 Spartak Noginsk turnovers and outrebounded them 45-33 including 21 on the offensive glass. American guard Britney Jones (172-87, college: UAB) fired 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Her fellow American import Emma Cannon (187-89, college: Cent.Florida, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 20 points. Four Vologda-Chevakata players scored in double figures. Forward Marina Krivolapova (181-86) produced 11 points and 8 rebounds and guard Ekaterina Kubynina (170-92) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vologda-Chevakata have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 7-5 record. Spartak Noginsk at the other side still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Vologda-Chevakata are looking forward to face Dynamo NR (#5) in Novosibirsk in the next round. Spartak Noginsk will have a break next round.
