No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Sakhalin (9-5) crushed on the road 12th ranked Khimky-Podmoskoye (3-12) 86-61 on Monday. Sakhalin made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Sakhalin had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. International Artem Komolov (194-93) nailed 16 points, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and the former international swingman Igor Smygin (197-87) accounted for 13 points. Four Sakhalin players scored in double figures. The former international forward Valery Likhodey (205-86, agency: Alti Sport) came up with 15 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Timofey Yakushin (194-97) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively for Khimky-Podmoskoye in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Sakhalin. They maintain fifth place with 9-5 record. Khimky-Podmoskoye lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Sakhalin will meet bottom-ranked Urartu Yerevan (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Khimky-Podmoskoye will play against Spartak-Prim. and hope to secure a win.
