Regular Season Round 12: Keravnos - AEK 91-71
Date: January 20, 2017
Very significant was Keravnos' (#1, 11-1) victory against second-best AEK (8-4) 91-71. The game was mostly controlled by Keravnos. AEK managed to win third quarter 26-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Somalian forward Mohamed Abukar (208-85, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Ronald Ross (188-83, college: Texas Tech) who added 21 points and 6 assists during the contest. Keravnos' coach Christoforos Livadiotis used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Courtney Pigram (185-85, college: E.Tenn.St.) with 17 points and 4 assists and Slovenian power forward Primoz Brezec (216-79) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Five Keravnos and four AEK players scored in double figures. Keravnos (11-1) have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Defending champion AEK keeps the second place with four games lost. Keravnos are looking forward to face Apoel (#3) in Nicosia in the next round, which may be the game of the day. AEK will play at home against Etha and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
