Regular Season Round 14: PINKK-Pecsi - UNIQA Sopron 67-80

A Division top team - UNIQA Sopron (11-2) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat ninth ranked PINKK-Pecsi (2-11) 80-67. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-67. UNIQA Sopron made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by PINKK-Pecsi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Yvonne Turner (176-87, college: Nebraska) scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian forward Aleksandra Crvendakic (188-96) chipped in 19 points during the contest. Four UNIQA Sopron players scored in double figures. Serbian power forward Nevena Markovic (193-93, college: IUPUI) responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds and the former international power forward Bettina Bozoki (191-89) scored 13 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. UNIQA Sopron have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 11-2 record. PINKK-Pecsi at the other side keeps the ninth place with 11 games lost. UNIQA Sopron are looking forward to face MTK (#10) in Budapest in the next round and are hoping to win another game. PINKK-Pecsi's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Pecs to the arena PEAC-Pecs.
