Regular Season Round 23: Nika - Rostov 76-74

Important game to mention about took place in Syktyvkar. Sixth ranked Nika (10-12) saved a 2-point victory at home edging second-ranked BC Rostov (15-9) 76-74 on Tuesday evening. They outrebounded BC Rostov 40-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. BC Rostov was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Ketrin Pyatina (181-97) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Center Ekaterina Terekhova (188-90) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Nika players scored in double figures. Forward Yana Kotova (186-88) answered with 11 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Elena Chalaya (178-91) added 13 points and 4 steals in the effort for BC Rostov. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Nika maintains sixth place with 10-12 record. BC Rostov at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. Nika will play against higher ranked Stavropol (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BC Rostov will play against Dynamo-2 M. in Moscow and hopes to get back on the winning track.
