Regular Season Round 23: Neftyanik - MBA-2 61-55

There was no surprise in Omsk where 7th ranked MBA-2 (9-15) was defeated by third ranked Neftyanik (13-11) 61-55 on Wednesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Neftyanik forced 22 MBA-2 turnovers. The best player for the winners was power forward Viktoriya Edomakha (187-95) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Elena Elgina (170-87) chipped in 9 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Aleksandra Ivanova (-99) produced 10 points and 8 rebounds and Yulia Zarubina (190-99) added 11 points respectively for the guests. Four MBA-2 players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Neftyanik have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 13-11 record having ten points less than leader Dynamo-Farm. MBA-2 lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 15 games lost. Neftyanik will have a break next round. MBA-2 will play on the road against UMMC Junior (#10) in Ekaterinburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
