There was no surprise in Riva San Vitale where 9th ranked Riva (2-11) was defeated by seventh ranked Bellinzona (4-9) 73-63 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Bellinzona. Riva managed to win fourth quarter 13-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bellinzona forced 19 Riva turnovers and outrebounded them 52-31 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American point guard Chanise Jenkins (165-92, college: De Paul, agency: LBM Management) who scored 29 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. The other American import center Jasmine Hines (192-93, college: Michigan St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 19 rebounds. Bellinzona's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Jackie Nared (183-90, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: LBM Management) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks and Canadian power forward Julie Seabrook (189-90, college: Colorado) added 18 points and 15 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Bellinzona maintains seventh position with 4-9 record, which they share with BBC Troist. Riva lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. Bellinzona is looking forward to face higher ranked Geneve Basket (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Riva will play against the league's leader Fribourg (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
