Regular Season Round 15: Massagno - Swiss Central 82-67

Date: January 29, 2017
There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Swiss Central (5-9) lost on the road to ninth ranked Massagno (5-8) 82-67 on Sunday. Massagno made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Quinton Day (185-84, college: UMKC) who led the winners and scored 24 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Danish center Jonas Bergstedt (210-91) accounted for 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Five Massagno players scored in double figures. Marco Lehmann (185-93) came up with 24 points and Serbian guard Nemanja Kovacevic (194-85) added 18 points respectively for Swiss Central in the defeat. Swiss Central's coach Danijel Eric tested ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Massagno moved-up to seventh place. Swiss Central lost their seventh game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. They share it with Boncourt. Massagno will meet higher ranked Lugano Tigers (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Swiss Central will play against the league's second-placed Fribourg where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
