Regular Season Round 16: Sparta&K MR - Spartak N. 86-63
Date: January 29, 2017
Bottom-ranked Spartak Noginsk (0-15) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 86-63 loss to tenth ranked Spartak Vidnoye (5-10) in Vidnoye. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak Noginsk's 30. Spartak Vidnoye forced 23 Spartak Noginsk turnovers and had a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by international Olga Novikova (180-94) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and Croatian Ivana Dojkic (180-97) supported her with 18 points and 6 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Even 23 points and 8 rebounds by center Yuliya Garkavskaya (203-91) did not help to save the game for Spartak Noginsk. Forward Marina Krivolapova (181-86) added 13 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Spartak Vidnoye moved-up to eighth place. Spartak Noginsk at the other side still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Spartak Vidnoye's next round opponent will be higher ranked Vologda-Chevakata (#4) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. Spartak Noginsk will play against Nadezhda Orenburg (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
