Rather expected game when 10th ranked MBA Moscow (6-10) lost at home to eighth ranked Kupol-Rodniki (8-7) 78-72 on Monday. Kupol-Rodniki outrebounded MBA Moscow 45-26 including a 23-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by center Aleksey Karpeko (204-89) who scored that evening 15 points and 7 rebounds and center Vladimir Lidyaev (203-87) supported him with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Kupol-Rodniki players scored in double figures. Even 14 points and 6 rebounds by the former international forward Sergey Toporov (197-81, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) did not help to save the game for MBA Moscow. Guard Konstantin Babynin (192-88) added 8 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kupol-Rodniki moved-up to seventh place. MBA Moscow lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with ten games lost. Kupol-Rodniki will meet at home higher ranked Samara-SGEU (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. MBA Moscow will play against the league's second-placed Universitet-Yugra (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
