Irkut Irkutsk managed to secure a 5-point victory 71-66 on Monday. Irkut Irkutsk made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Sakhalin turnovers. The winners were led by Aleksandr Zakharov (203-93) who scored that evening 18 points and 5 rebounds and forward Semen Shashkov (205-89) supported him with 9 points and 8 rebounds. Even 17 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) by the former international swingman Igor Smygin (197-87) did not help to save the game for Sakhalin. Alexey Nesterov (204-88) added 12 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Irkut Irkutsk moved-up to fourth place. Loser Sakhalin keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Irkut Irkutsk will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sakhalin will play against TEMP-SUMZ Revda (#9) and hope to secure a win.
