Regular Season Round 16: Alba - MAFC 101-75
Date: February 1, 2017
A Division top team - Alba (13-3) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed thirteenth ranked MAFC (3-13) in Szekesfehervar 101-75. The game was mostly controlled by Alba. MAFC managed to win fourth quarter 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to MAFC's 36. Alba forced 20 MAFC turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by American forward Winston Shepard (203-93, college: San Diego St., agency: Diamond Sports) who scored that evening 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international power forward Peter Lorant (206-85, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Alba players scored in double figures. Even 20 points and 5 rebounds by Indian-Canadian forward Robbie Sihota (201-87) did not help to save the game for MAFC. Croatian center Matija Poscic (206-85, college: De Paul) added 11 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Alba maintains first position with 13-3 record. MAFC lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Vasas. Alba will meet at home Sopron KC (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. MAFC's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Budapest Vasas.
