An interesting game for AEK (10-4) which hosted in Larnaca one of their biggest challengers Apoel (7-7). Second ranked AEK managed to get a 11-point victory 78-67. Slovenian power forward Primoz Brezec (216-79) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Torey Thomas (178-85, college: Holy Cross) chipped in 10 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. AEK's coach Linos Gavriel allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Tre Bussey (190-91, college: Georgia South) responded with 17 points and 6 assists and his fellow American import guard Robert Brown (196-92, college: UAB) scored 21 points. Defending champion maintains second position with 10-4 record having just three points less than leader Keravnos. Apoel at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost. AEK will play against Enosis (#4) in Paralimni in the next round. Apoel will play at home against Etha and hopes to get back on the winning track.
