Regular Season Round 17: MAFC - Vasas 77-83

Bottom-ranked Vasas managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the series of three consecutive losses. This time newly promoted Vasas won against thirteenth-ranked MAFC in Budapest 83-77. MAFC was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 42-34 second half run of Vasas. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to MAFC's 38. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American forward A.J. Pacher (208-92, college: Wright St.) nailed 27 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import point guard Ronnie Taylor (187-81, college: NC-Greensboro, agency: Octagon Europe) accounted for 16 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists. Five Vasas players scored in double figures. American point guard Deville Smith (183-91, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Two Points) came up with 27 points and 5 steals and guard Levente Misek (193-93) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for MAFC in the defeat. Vasas (4-13) moved-up to thirteenth place. MAFC lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 14 games lost. Vasas will play against higher ranked Sopron KC (#8) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MAFC will play against Szolnok (#6) in Szolnok and hopes to get back on the winning track.
