Regular Season Round 17: Falco KC - Szolnok 87-79

The game in Szombathely was also quite interesting. 4th placed Szolnok (10-7) played at the court of sixth ranked Falco KC (11-6). Falco KC managed to secure a 8-point victory 87-79 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Szolnok. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Szolnok trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 21-15 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 79-87 at the end of the game. Falco KC outrebounded Szolnok 35-23 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Darrin Govens (185-88, college: St.Joseph's) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists. Serbian center Ivan Zigeranovic (212-84, agency: BeoExcell) chipped in 19 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Montenegrin Nikola Pavlicevic (192-88) produced 24 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and international swingman David Vojvoda (196-90) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Five Falco KC and four Szolnok players scored in double figures. Falco KC have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Defending champion Szolnok dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Falco KC will meet at home Szedeak (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Szolnok will play against MAFC (#14) and hope to secure a win.
