Regular Season Round 21: Kupol-Rodniki - Samara-SGEU 70-63

The game between third ranked Samara-SGEU (12-6) and seventh ranked Kupol-Rodniki (9-7) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Samara-SGEU was defeated by Kupol-Rodniki in a tough game in Izhevsk 63-70. Kupol-Rodniki forced 20 Samara-SGEU turnovers. Forward Maksim Zakharov (198-89, college: E.Utah JC) stepped up and scored 20 points for the winners and guard Viktor Kashin (193-94) chipped in 17 points. The best for the losing side was point guard Alexander Korchagin (188-88, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) with 17 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Aleksei Zozulin (198-83) scored 12 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kupol-Rodniki maintains seventh place with 9-7 record. Samara-SGEU at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Kupol-Rodniki are looking forward to face Ryazan (#11) at home in the next round. Samara-SGEU will have a break next round.
