Regular Season Round 17: Cegledi EKK - MTK 93-69

Very predictable result when fifth ranked Cegledi EKK (11-4) smashed at home 10th ranked MTK (1-13) 93-69 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Cegledi EKK made 29-of-33 free shots (87.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 MTK turnovers and outrebounded them 45-28 including a 21-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Cegledi EKK looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists. The best player for the winners was Serbian Maja Skoric (185-89) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). International guard Dora Medgyessy (174-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 8 rebounds, 20 assists and 4 steals. Cegledi EKK's coach Laszlo Cziczas felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international swingman Orsolya Zsovar (180-84) produced 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Zsuzsanna Szekely-Horvath (189-83, college: Georgetown) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for the guests. Cegledi EKK have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 11-4 record. MTK lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Cegledi EKK will meet higher ranked PEAC-Pecs (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MTK will play against Miskolc (#6) and hope to win that game.
