Regular Season Round 18: ZTE KK - Kormend 85-88

The biggest surprise of round 18 in A Division was guest Kormend's (12-6) road victory over ZTE KK (#5) 88-85 on Sunday evening. ZTE KK was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 29-23 charge of Kormend, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Lenzelle Smith-Jr (193-91, college: Ohio St.) who scored 19 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. The other American import guard Sterling Gibbs (188-92, college: Connecticut, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Julian Norfleet (188-91, college: Mt.St.Mary's) who recorded 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Lithuanian center Adomas Drungilas (203-90) added 18 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kormend moved-up to second place, which they share with Falco KC and Kaposvari. ZTE KK at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Szolnok. Kormend is looking forward to face league's second-placed Falco KC in Szombathely in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. ZTE KK will play on the road against PVSK Pannon in Pecs and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
