Regular Season Round 17: UNI Gyor - PEAC-Pecs 83-75

Date: February 12, 2017
The game between Top Four teams took place in Gyor. Third ranked host UNI Gyor (12-3) defeated second-ranked PEAC-Pecs (12-4) 83-75. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of PEAC-Pecs. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But PEAC-Pecs won third quarter 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. UNI Gyor made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Slovakian power forward Zofia Hruscakova (190-95) stepped up and scored 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and international guard Zsofia Simon (181-89, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Serbian point guard Sanja Mandic (178-95, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 15 points and 4 assists and the former international guard Krisztina Raksanyi (180-91) scored 17 points. PEAC-Pecs' coach Boris Maljkovic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. UNI Gyor moved-up to second place. PEAC-Pecs at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost. UNI Gyor are looking forward to face bottom-ranked BEAC-Ujbuda (#11) in Budapest in the next round and are hoping to win another game. PEAC-Pecs will play at home against Cegledi EKK (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
