Regular Season Round 18: Winterthur - Starwings 88-69
Date: February 18, 2017
Bottom-ranked Winterthur managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time they outleveled fifth-ranked Starwings 88-69. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 19-point difference proves that Winterthur was well-prepared to that game. And what about a second win in a row after ...fourteen consecutive losses. The game was mostly controlled by Winterthur. Starwings was better in third quarter 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Winterthur shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. American players dominated also this game. The best player for the winners was swingman Shane Southwell (201-92, college: Kansas St.) who scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Rashad Whack (190-91, college: Mt.St.Mary's) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Durell Vinson (201-85, college: Wagner) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds and power forward Octavius Brown (206-93, college: Alcorn St.) added 23 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Winterthur maintains eleventh position with 2-14 record. Starwings at the other side dropped to the sixth place with seven games lost. Winterthur's next round opponent will be higher ranked Swiss Central (#7) in Luzern and it may be quite challenging game.
