Regular Season Round 18: ELTE-BEAC - UNI Gyor 33-58

There was no surprise in Budapest where 10th ranked BEAC-Ujbuda (1-15) was crushed by second ranked UNI Gyor (13-3) 58-33 on Sunday. The game without a history. UNI Gyor led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding BEAC-Ujbuda to just 7 points in second and third quarters. UNI Gyor held BEAC-Ujbuda to an opponent 20.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 33.3 percent accuracy of the winners. The best player for the winners was American forward Cyesha Goree (190-93, college: Michigan, agency: Interperformances) who scored 7 points and 12 rebounds. Slovakian power forward Zofia Hruscakova (190-95) chipped in 8 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Judit Barnai (189-94) who recorded 8 points and 9 rebounds and guard Szandra Pal (176-86, college: SE Missouri St.) added 9 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. UNI Gyor have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with UNIQA Sopron. BEAC-Ujbuda lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with 15 games lost. UNI Gyor is looking forward to face Atomeromu (#3) in Szekszard in the next round, which may be the game of the day. BEAC-Ujbuda's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Budapest to the arena Vasas Akademia.
