Regular Season Round 30: Nika - Sparta&K-2 V 66-72

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Sparta&K-2 V (11-17) beat 6th ranked Nika (12-16) in Syktyvkar 72-66 on Wednesday. Sparta&K-2 V made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Nika turnovers. Ksenia Sharova (178-98) notched 27 points to lead the effort and point guard Sevara Nuritdinova (163-98) supported her with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Even a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds by forward Marina Sheveleva (184-89) did not help to save the game for Nika. Guard Ekaterina Vasileva (174-89) added 6 points and 4 assists. Nika's coach Olha Doronina rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Sparta&K-2 V maintains eighth position with 11-17 record, which they share with Dynamo-2 M. Newly promoted Nika keeps the sixth place with 16 games lost. Sparta&K-2 V will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nika will play against Samara (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
