Regular Season Round 19: Vasas Akademia - ELTE-BEAC 66-52

Rather expected game when 11th ranked BEAC-Ujbuda (1-16) lost to eighth ranked Vasas Akademia (5-13) in Budapest 52-66 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 66-52. Vasas Akademia outrebounded BEAC-Ujbuda 51-30 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by BEAC-Ujbuda's players. It was an exceptional evening for Serbian guard Snezana Colic (178-92) who led the winners and scored 10 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. American center Cassie Rochel (193-91, college: Wisconsin) accounted for 9 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Swingman Petra Pusztai (177-99) came up with 13 points and power forward Judit Barnai (189-94) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively for BEAC-Ujbuda in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vasas Akademia maintains eighth place with 5-13 record. BEAC-Ujbuda lost ninth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Vasas Akademia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. BEAC-Ujbuda will play against MTK (#10) in Budapest and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
