The game in Nicosia was also quite interesting. Second ranked AEK (13-4) played at the court of 6th ranked Etha (3-14). AEK defeated Etha 89-75 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by AEK. Etha managed to win second period 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Etha's players. Montenegrin Vladimir Dasic (207-88) nailed a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and Slovenian power forward Primoz Brezec (216-79) accounted for 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Five AEK players scored in double figures. AEK's coach Linos Gavriel used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Baden Jaxen (190-90, college: N.Carolina) came up with 35 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import guard Leron Barnes (196-93, college: Houston) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Etha in the defeat. AEK have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 13-4 record having just two points less than leader Keravnos. Etha lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. They share it with Apollon. AEK will meet Apoel (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Etha will play against Apollon in Limassol and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
