Regular Season Round 19: Miskolc - PINKK-Pecsi 83-58
Date: February 25, 2017
No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Miskolc (11-6) crushed at home 9th ranked PINKK-Pecsi (3-14) 83-58 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 18-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-58. Miskolc dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to PINKK-Pecsi's 30. They outrebounded PINKK-Pecsi 42-30 including 32 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Miskolc made 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for Serbian power forward Tina Jovanovic (190-91) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. American point guard Samantha Prahalis (170-90, college: Ohio St.) accounted for 15 points for the winning side. Four Miskolc players scored in double figures. The former international power forward Bettina Bozoki (191-89) came up with 13 points and the former international swingman Nikolett Gemes-Sarok (182-90) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for PINKK-Pecsi in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Miskolc have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 11-6 record. Loser PINKK-Pecsi keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost. Miskolc will meet higher ranked PEAC-Pecs (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. PINKK-Pecsi will play against the league's second-placed Atomeromu (#2) and hope to secure a win.
