Regular Season Round 20: PINKK-Pecsi - Atomeromu 63-81

Very expected game when 9th ranked PINKK-Pecsi (3-15) was defeated at home by second ranked Atomeromu (14-3) 81-63 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Atomeromu. PINKK-Pecsi managed to win third quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 27-of-35 free shots (77.1 percent) during the game, while PINKK-Pecsi only scored eleven points from the stripe. Atomeromu forced 22 PINKK-Pecsi turnovers and outrebounded them 29-12 including 19 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Slovenian center Sandra Pirsic (196-84) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Agnes Studer (169-98, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 11 points and 5 assists. American guard Monica Engelman (180-91, college: Kansas) produced 18 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and the former international guard Nora Rujak (174-90) added 12 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Atomeromu have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 14-3 record behind leader UNIQA Sopron. Loser PINKK-Pecsi keeps the ninth place with 15 games lost. Atomeromu will meet at home bottom-ranked MTK (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. PINKK-Pecsi will play against BEAC-Ujbuda in Budapest and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
