Regular Season Round 34: Samara - Stavropol 81-75

Very expected game when 9th ranked Stavropol (12-20) lost on the road to fourth ranked Samara (18-14) 81-75. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Samara made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Stavropol turnovers. Strangely Stavropol outrebounded Samara 42-30 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Swingman Yana Matveeva (186-92) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Olga Omelchenko (183-91) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Samara players scored in double figures. Samara's coach Alexander Garshin allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side power forward Elena Fedotova (185-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and Albina Khamitova (186-94) scored 9 points and 12 rebounds. Samara have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Rostov. Stavropol lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 20 games lost. They share it with Dynamo-2 M.. Samara will play against league's second-placed BC Rostov at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Stavropol will play against Sparta&K-2 V (#7) in Vidnoye and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
