Regular Season Round 21: Atomeromu - Szolnok 82-73

We should mention about the upset which took place in Paks, where higher ranked Szolnok (13-8) lost to twelfth ranked Atomeromu (7-14) in a road game 73-82. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Szolnok. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-18. But Szolnok won second period 12-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Atomeromu forced 19 Szolnok turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Szolnok was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American point guard Talor Battle (182-88, college: Penn St., agency: Two Points) who led his team to a victory with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Akos Kovacs (183-88, agency: HMS) contributed with 22 points and 7 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Montenegrin Nikola Pavlicevic (192-88) answered with 20 points and 5 assists and international power forward Janos Eilingsfeld (198-91) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Szolnok. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Szolnok's coach Zoran Kmezics rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Atomeromu moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Jaszberenyi. Defending champion Szolnok dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with ZTE KK and Kaposvari. Atomeromu will play against higher ranked Szedeak (#8) in Szeged in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Szolnok will play at home against the league's leader Alba (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
