UMMC stunned Familia Schio in Italy to sweep the quarterfinal series. The game without a history. UMMC Ekaterinburg led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. UMMC Ekaterinburg outrebounded Familia Schio 41-26 including a 34-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 58.3 percentage. UMMC Ekaterinburg players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Italian-American Diana Taurasi (182-82, college: Connecticut) notched 26 points to lead the effort and American center Brittney Griner (203-90, college: Baylor) supported her with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Even 16 points and 5 rebounds by forward Cecilia Zandalasini (183-96) did not help to save the game for Familia Schio. Forward Laura Macchi (188-79) added 21 points for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
