The game in Limassol supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked AEK (16-4) played at the court of 6th ranked Apollon (3-17). AEK smashed Apollon 98-44 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by AEK. Apollon managed to win second period 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Apollon to just 5 points in first quarter. AEK dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Apollon's 28. AEK forced 24 Apollon turnovers and outrebounded them 30-10 including a 21-8 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Apollon's players. The winners were led by Montenegrin Vladimir Dasic (207-88) who scored that evening 23 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and American point guard Torey Thomas (178-85, college: Holy Cross) supported him with 8 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. Even 13 points by the former international guard Iraklis Pittakas (192-84) did not help to save the game for Apollon. Center Papa Suleiman (207-98) added 9 points for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. AEK have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 16-4 record having just two points less than leader Keravnos. Apollon lost tenth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 17 games lost.
