Regular Season Round 37: Neftyanik - UMMC Junior 93-86

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Neftyanik (20-15) beat bottom-ranked UMMC Junior (8-27) in Omsk 93-86. Neftyanik made 54-of-65 charity shots (83.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 51 UMMC Junior turnovers. Strangely UMMC Junior outrebounded Neftyanik 106-94 including 32 on the offensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 29 long-distance shots on high 56.9 percentage. Neftyanik players were unselfish on offense dishing 37 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 28 blocks. UMMC Junior was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Kseniya Chinaeva (180-89) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and guard Elena Elgina (170-87) chipped in 22 points and 6 assists. At the losing side point guard Viktoriia Zavialova (166-98) responded with 19 points and 4 assists and Ekaterina Ilinova (178-95) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Neftyanik have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain third place with 20-15 record having sixteen points less than leader Dynamo-Farm. UMMC Junior lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 27 lost games. Neftyanik will again play against bottom-ranked UMMC Junior (#10) in Ekaterinburg in the next round and are hoping to win another game. UMMC Junior will have a break next round.
