Second Stage Round 6: Bellinzona - Riva 53-61

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Bellinzona (4-2) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Riva (4-2) 61-53 on Sunday. Bellinzona was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Bellinzona 47-28 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Jackie Nared (183-90, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: LBM Management) had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 18 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Canadian power forward Julie Seabrook (189-90, college: Colorado) chipped in 7 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Chanise Jenkins (165-92, college: De Paul, agency: LBM Management) with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized Cuban forward Luisa Avila-Lopez (183-90) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Riva moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Pully and Bellinzona.
