Second Stage Round 8: Kormend - Szolnok 109-81

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Kormend (22-10) crushed at home 5th ranked Szolnok (19-14) 109-81 on Thursday. The game without a history. Kormend led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 61.9 percent from the field. Kormend shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 65.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by American-Liberian guard Lasan Kromah (198-91, college: Connecticut) who scored that evening 39 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Lenzelle Smith-Jr (193-91, college: Ohio St.) supported him with 25 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Even 27 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists by international swingman David Vojvoda (196-90) did not help to save the game for Szolnok. International power forward Janos Eilingsfeld (198-91) added 11 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Szolnok's coach Zoran Kmezics gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Kormend maintains second position with 22-10 record behind leader PVSK Pannon. Szolnok lost fourth consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the fifth place with 14 games lost. Kormend will meet Falco KC (#4) in the next round. Szolnok will play against the league's leader Alba and hope to secure a win.
